Hot air in your attic can drastically increase the temperature inside your home. Electric bills are high enough as it is and roof vents can help get rid of the oppressive hot air in your attic and help lower your air conditioning usage.
Roof vents are just another service we offer as a roofing company. Here are a few different types of roof vents we install.
Types of Roof Vents
Ridge Vents
Ridge vents have become more popular over the years. They are installed at the peak of your roof and allow the hot air in your attic to escape. The sleek appearance blends in quite nicely with a shingled roof. Shingle ridge cap is applied over the ridge vent so it looks just like the rest of your roof.
Roof Louvers
Roof louvers provide a small area of air movement. Therefore multiple louvers must be installed evenly across your roof. Holes must be cut in your roof for each louver. They are made to prevent debris and small animals from entering your attic. These vents come in metal or plastic and in different colors to help match your roof.
Wall Louvers
Wall louvers are installed at the gable end of your attic. Since hot air rises the higher they are place the better they are at letting the hot air escape. They allow air to pass through while keeping out water and debris. Fixed blades mounted in a frame provide this functionality. A properly designed louver will maximize free area while allowing a minimal amount of water to enter.
Wind Turbines
These specially shaped turbines catch the wind and pull the hot air right out of your attic. All it takes is a wind speed of at least 5 miles per hour. The natural force of air pressure and wind work to eliminate stale air from your attic.
